At the Dialogue, representatives of the two sides presented key issues in bilateral energy cooperation such as: Clean electricity production, electricity market development, economical and efficient use of energy, transmission and storage of energy. energy storage; the role of liquefied natural gas and the steps needed to convert energy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
In particular, the Vietnamese and US delegations discussed in detail the future of clean energy technologies such as offshore wind power, hydrogen, storage batteries and nuclear power.
The dialogue recognizes and welcomes the participation of Vietnamese and US businesses in the energy sector, including: Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Gas Corporation, PetroVietnam Exploration, Production and Services Corporation, Center for Law and Social Policy, American Council on Energy Efficiency Economy, Regional Initiative on Greenhouse Gas.
Within the framework of this Dialogue, AES Group proposed a Letter of Intent to the Vietnamese delegation, with the desire to deploy an offshore wind power project in Binh Thuan province, with a total investment capital of 13 billion USD, the company Estimated capacity is 4,000 MW. The implementation of this project of AES Group is with the desire to contribute to Vietnam’s carbon emission reduction plan and achieve the goal committed at COP26.

In addition, the Department of Energy Resources of the United States Department of State has sent an official invitation to the Vietnamese delegation to attend two field trips to visit the electricity and renewable energy markets, which are expected to take place at the end of 2022 in Vietnam.
